Nuthin' but the truth

(not to be confused with the true hollywood version.)
My Primary Data
I'm currently living in South Florida with my wife and our teenage daughter. We have two grown sons (i say grown because they have their OWN apartments!) that we stay in contact with weekly. We can't wait until she's away at college so we can walk around the house naked! A simple wish, but you parents know what I'm talking about. Most of my colleagues say I don't look old enough to have grown kids. I simply tell them I've got a portrait in the attic that looks like crap!
My secret identity
By trade, I'm a full-time college professor. I teach web design and graphic design courses. My graphics classes cover branding, identity design, packaging, art direction and advertising. My web classes cover html, xml, xhtml, css, asp, php and mysql (are these acronyms freaking you out or what?). Lately, I've been reviewing potential textbooks for publishing houses. I've reviewed books on design fundamentals, Adobe InDesign, Macromedia Dreamweaver, package design and branding. I'm currently proposing 2 titles of my own. More on that later. Whew! Sometimes I wonder how I find the time to freelance.
After Rush Hour
I spend a lot of time with my family. I know it's not popular today, but we all enjoy each others company. On fridays we have family night, which may involve dinner, movies, games, even a roadtrip. We've had it every friday now for almost 11 years!
When I'm alone, I still draw a lot. Not as much as ten years ago, but still enough to keep my skills fresh. I'm currently posting an online comic which is a sequel to my 80's project. If you've read the first story, you can read the sequel here.
Watching good films is my biggest distraction. I enjoy classic movies, especially Film Noir. I once had ambitions of being a cinematographer. Storyboarding was as close as I came. Even now, I still count the number of cuts, edits and scenes in a typical movie. I know, I need a life, right? :^)
Shameless Plug
I'm always on the lookout for freelance work that may come my way. If you see something in my portfolio you like, drop me an email. I have a rep who gets me all the work I can handle, so I owe her a lot. I'm currently building her website, and I'll link you to it when I'm done.

Shout-outs
GIVING CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE
This website is definitely not all me. Besides the gurus I've linked you to, there are a few people behind the scenes personally coaching me. So, I wanna give a shout-out to William, Carlos, Ari, Ron, Ginna, Adrian, Mauricio, Johnathan and all the rest. If I missed your name, email me and I'll set it straight! :^)
pet project revisited
After a long hiatus, I've finally decided to do something with a product I put together back in 1987. During the eighties I was a storyboard artist for several department stores, product developers and music videos. I often spent time practicing to draw as fast as I could to get more efficient. Sometimes I'd give myself a simple storyline to see if I could solve it visually. While working on a video project for MTV, I started a short story that inspired me to create this large body of work I came to call "The Opposite Sex." You can go directly to that section of the site from here. The entire comic has been removed, but the paperback version is now available, and sales are strong. Thanks!

The matrix has my nano
My current favorite toy is my iPod Nano. If you haven't thought about getting one, think harder! It's excellent. It's my personal digital assistant. Files, music, etc. It does it all. I recommend the black one. It looks like it might belong to Morpheus. :^)

speaking of apple products...
WHAT WERE THE NAMES OF THE TWO MALE GOPHER CHARACTERS IN LOONEY TUNES WHO WERE ALWAYS POLITE TO EACH OTHER?
They were usually billed as "The Goofy Gophers". Later, on The Bugs Bunny Show (ABC, 1960) they were named "Mac & Tosh". True story!
