Logo Design Project
These first-year students were required to develop a logo that didn’t exist, or was poorly done, and come up will a visual that works for the product. It was there first attempt at a visual ID element, and most of them did well. Check out their work!
Student Label Project
I liked this assignment. The students had to come up with 2 different label designs, fill the contents of each bottle with a substance that wouldn’t spoil. Some of them are nothing more than tiny rocks, leaves, and tap water. Some have watercolor and oils. Others are filled with stuff from Home Depot’s gardening department.
Invitation Project
These are the winners of my in-class Invitation Project. The students were required to make up an event, then design an invitation that would specifically appeal to the guest. They could choose any event, past or present or future, then design an invite. The fictional print budget was “flexible” to say the least.
Book Cover Exercise
In this 2nd year project, the students had a test of creative speed. The objective was to design a complete wraparound booksleeve from scratch in 3 hours. They had to use wikipedia’s random search to discover a book title, then scour the web to find a visual to support it.
